This lecture provides an overview of the Unix Kernel and describes the differences between user mode and kernel mode. It also explains the concept of interrupts, signals, traps and user mode to kernel mode switching. The lecture also introduces concepts related to Kernel services such as CPU Scheduling, Memory Management, Process Management, Hardware Interfaces and misc kernel services.
