Lecture 30: Use CentOS Linux for Routing, Proxy, NAT, DHCP - Part 5

4.1 ( 11 )

Lecture Details

A multi-part tutorial on creating a CentOS Linux server to be a transparent proxy, router, handle NAT services, DHCP services, and more. The entire demonstration is done virtually using virtual machines and VMware player.

In part 5, I install Squid and configure it to be a transparent proxy server. Then, I demonstrate how to add and delete entries to the iptables table and how to configure the iptables NAT table, to port forward all traffic local traffic on port 80 to the centOS local interface on port 3128 for Squid.

The entire tutorial is done using VMware virtual machines but could also be done using Virtualbox by setting the two network adapters (NICs) to Bridged adapter mode, and Internal Network adapter mode
