Architecture

1. Kernel
Linux kernel provides an abstraction hardware layer for Android. This allows Android to be ported into variety of different devices.

2. Libraries
Pre-installed on devices. Mostly written in CC++ language.

3. Android Runtime
It includes DVM (Dalvik Virtual machine) code and core Java Libraries.

4. Application Framework
It is a high-level layer using which you can do application development.

5. Applications and Widgets
Contains end user android applications.
